Hello!

Welcome to Let Me Gif This Straight.  This site provides some basic background information on the animated GIF format and elaborates on the relationship between GIFs and literacy, as well as examples of the uses of animated GIFs to supplement or “remediate” (Bolter, 2001, p. 25) the Web.

This project was presented in November 2012 by Marie-Hélène (May) Bacon to Dr. Jeff Miller and Dr. Teresa Dobson of the University of British Columbia, in the context of the Master of Educational Technology ETEC 540 course Text Technologies: Changing the Space of Reading and Writing.

For references and further reading, please visit this page. All animated GIFs on this site were created for this research and analysis project by Ms. Bacon.
